Pastoral Letter

February 7, 2010

Dear Parishioners,

What a weekend! I was telling Fr. Pat on Sunday that this was some kind of a wonderful three days.

The Principal and I began the weekend racing across Houston to the annual Principal-Pastor Brunch. We were welcomed by Sister Kevina who is the head of Catholic Schools for the Archdiocese. She was honoring us, but we in turn honored her. The Cardinal touched off the day with a welcoming prayer and acknowledgement of the fine work being done by all in the Catholic Schools of Houston . Then, back across the city, we headed to prepare for the annual appreciation dinner.

The parish staff again this year surprised us all with a sign that said “Thank You For All Your Heart Work!” They prepared the Parish Life Center with a neat valentine day ambience that delighted all. “The Nite Beat Band” provided the music and Mel’s Country Café catered fine food that told all the parish ministers how grateful we all are for their hearts of love!

Saturday began with morning Mass honoring our blessed Mother and calling the candidates for discernment to prayer. It was a beautiful moving morning of reflection. The reflections were personal and private, but I can tell you that there was a pastor there practically moved to tears as he listened to his people share their journey of faith. I was so proud as I thought of my privilege to shepherd these people. Awesome! We discerned Michael Stolarski, Mari Castano and Justin Homeyer -- your servants!

Then Jesus out did all of our efforts to praise Him as He gave us rest and His joy with Sunday Mass. Catholic Schools Week started with a video reminder to all of us of the blessings of the Lord. The singing began “All are welcome…” and the celebration began!

Thank you Lord Jesus and your Father too for these blessed experiences! I began with “dear parishioners” and allow me to end the same way my “dear parishioners”.

       Fr. Joe
