Pastoral Letter
Dear Father Arnel,

Please, if you will allow me, I want to write to you an open-letter of farewell. I, we, will miss you as you move to the east side of the Archdiocese. First of all, I want to thank you for your ministry at St. Edward Catholic Church and your ministry to me. Yes, this past year was difficult for me in losing control of the parish with the crosses of illnesses that the Lord asked me to carry. How little did I realize that He was using these events of my life to form and prepare you for this formidable task as shepherd and pastor. Your spirit of joy and care will always be remembered and I thank Jesus for the gift of you these past three years.

I also want to thank you for being such a caring priest to all you met. You visited the sick and dying (and a couple of times you beat me to the bedside of those in need!). I thank you for all your work to bring our liturgy to a deeper, more profound level as you practiced and learned to sing the Eucharistic Prayer. It is a beautiful gift! Thank you. We also thank you for the hours in the Chapel of Reconciliation – modern day St. John Vianney! One day we will talk great memories of the vocation committee and how so many families joined in prayer for future vocations. For this “Year of the Priest” know that you will be part of our prayers and good thoughts as you go to the good people of Sacred Heart, Crosby.

I look forward to the assignment of the Cardinal in installing you shortly in Crosby. We thank you for your love and your yes!

We Love You,

Fr. Joe & St. Ed's Family
